12 March 2018
On 26 February our forty foot container left the Port of Rotterdam enroute to the Port of Sint Maarten. On 9 March it arrived safe and sound on our beautiful island Sint Maarten. In the upcoming week the Rebuildsxm team will be visiting the National Institute of Arts (NIA), whom will be receiving gymnastic equipment towards their Art Heals Programme. The equipment was made possible by Sports for Children, their motto being "Every child deserves to play sports".
Next up are all the public schools on the island. Upon conducting an assessment with the Physical Educator, Jason Lindo, and the Sport Coordinator, Unrique Spier, we quickly realised that the schools could use our help. Based on the feedback received sports equipment was purchased at Decathlon, whom also have a motto we love, "Making sports accessible to everyone". The schools that will be receiving the equipment are Martin Luther King School (Dutch Quarter), Prins Willem Alexander school (Belevedere), Marie Genevieve de Weever (Hope Estate), Oranje School (Philipsburg), Vocational Training school (South Reward), Ruby Labega School (South Reward) and the Leonald Conner School (Cay Bay). At the Milton Peters College and Sundial School seperate assessments were done, which also resulted in sports equipment being bought. Besides the sports equipment Sundial will be receiving some schools materials which they direly needed.
